Government With Integrity and Accountability

Welcome to the Bridgewater Republican Municipal Committee Website

This is the official website of the Bridgewater Republican Municipal Committee ("BRMC"), a political committee created pursuant to Title 19 of the New Jersey Statutes.  The purpose of the BRMC is to promote loyalty to the United States of America and to the State of New Jersey; to support their respective constitutions and to maintain the principles of the Republican Party; to encourage the candidacy of qualified Republicans to public office in order to insure sound legislation and competent administration; to screen, select, and endorse Municipal Candidates; participate in the screening selection and endorsement of State and County candidates; to resist and expose political corruption; to promote honest and free electoral methods; and to encourage public attention to and discussion of civic problems and the conduct of Federal, State and Local governments.

The residents of each of the 36 voting districts in the Township of Bridgewater (click here for map) elect one male and one female Committee member for a two year term to represent the voting district in which they reside, for a total of 72 Committee members.  Among the duties of the members of the BRMC are the following:

  • Serve as members of their "party municipal committee" (the BRMC)
  • Represent all voters in the Township of Bridgewater voting district in which they reside
  • Encourage each adult to register and vote as a member of the Republican party (including students away from home, military personnel out of the area, the ill and the infirm)
  • Be a source to answer voter questions
  • Maintain voter files for their respective districts to help the Republican Party achieve these goals
  • Support BRMC Fundraisers
  • Recruit volunteers to serve as monitors/challengers at the polls on Election Day to insure that only properly registered voters vote and to get out the vote ("GOTV") for Republican Party candidates
  • Monitor and report vote tallies when the polls close
  • If a vacancy occurs in the Township of Bridgewater Municipal governing body, meet as a Municipal Party Committee to nominate three candidates from whom the governing body can select a replacement to serve until the next regular election
  • Meet as part of the Somerset County Republican Committee to elect or re-elect the County Party Chairman
  • If a vacancy occurs on the Somerset County Freeholder Board, meet as part of the Somerset County Party Committee to nominate three candidates from whom the remaining Freeholders can select the replacement to serve until the next regular election
